Beadlight is a Catholic prayer app designed to help users pray the Rosary with a calm, simple, and focused experience. This Privacy Policy explains what information Beadlight collects, how it is used, who we use to help provide the service, and the choices available to users.

Summary

You can use Beadlight without creating an account. If you create an account, Beadlight may save your prayer journey so you can see personal streaks, totals, and progress. If you do not create an account, Beadlight may still record anonymous prayer activity so we can show global prayer totals and understand overall use of the app.

Beadlight uses Supabase for accounts, backend storage, support, and prayer records. Beadlight uses RevenueCat and Apple to manage purchases, subscriptions, premium access, and purchase restoration.

Beadlight does not sell personal information and does not use advertising tracking.

Information We Collect

Account information

Beadlight does not require an account for the core app experience. If you choose to create an account, we may collect your email address, your Beadlight account ID, authentication information handled through Supabase, and, if you use Sign in with Apple, the Apple account identifier and any name or email address Apple provides to the app.

Account information is used to sign you in, protect your account, connect your prayer journey to your account, and support account deletion.

Prayer journey and prayer activity

Beadlight may record prayer activity when you move through prayers, complete prayer steps, complete decades, or complete a Rosary. Because Beadlight is a prayer app, this information may relate to your religious or spiritual activity. We handle it carefully and do not sell it.

Prayer journey and prayer activity may include:

• the number of prayers completed;
• Rosaries completed;
• current streak;
• prayers completed this week;
• lifetime prayer totals;
• prayer type;
• mystery set, such as Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, or Glorious;
• prayer step, step number, or decade number;
• completion dates and times.

If you are signed in, this information may be linked to your Beadlight account so that you can see your own streaks, totals, and progress.

If you are not signed in, Beadlight may still record anonymous prayer activity using a randomly generated device identifier. This allows Beadlight to maintain global prayer totals and aggregate usage statistics without requiring an account.

App analytics and identifiers

Beadlight may collect limited app analytics to understand app reliability and improve the prayer experience. This may include app session IDs, anonymous device IDs, app version and build number, platform, whether the app is in free or premium mode, and events such as app opened, prayer step completed, decade completed, or Rosary completed.

The anonymous device identifier is not your name, email address, Apple ID, advertising identifier, or payment information. It may allow events from the same app installation to be grouped together for reliability, duplicate prevention, and aggregate counting.

Subscriptions, purchases, and premium access

Beadlight may offer optional paid features, including guided audio access, through Apple In-App Purchase and subscriptions. We use RevenueCat to help manage subscription status, purchase restoration, entitlements, and premium access.

We may receive and store purchase-related information such as subscription or purchase status, product identifier, entitlement status, expiration date, RevenueCat app user ID, and whether premium access is active. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Payments and subscription billing are handled by Apple.

Support requests and suggestions

If you contact us through the support form, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, ticket type, priority, subject, message, and device or app details.

We use this information to respond to your request, investigate bugs, consider suggestions, and improve Beadlight. We may also send you an acknowledgement email confirming that your support request has been received.

App settings stored on your device

Beadlight may store app preferences locally on your device. This may include onboarding status, prayer progress, selected mystery set, selected prayer options, selected voice, guided audio speed, hands-free settings, background sound preferences, appearance preference, and other app settings.

These settings are used to make the app work properly and provide a consistent prayer experience. They are stored locally on your device unless you delete or reset the app.

Guided audio and background sounds

Beadlight may include guided prayer audio and background sound features. The app does not record your voice, listen to your prayers, or access your microphone.

Roadmap administration

Beadlight’s roadmap admin page is restricted to approved administrator email addresses. If you are an approved administrator, your email address may be used to authenticate access to the roadmap management page and other restricted admin pages. Approved administrators may access aggregate prayer totals and analytics through Beadlight admin tools.

What We Do Not Collect

Beadlight does not intentionally collect:

• your precise location;
• your contacts;
• your photos;
• your microphone recordings;
• your camera data;
• your full payment card details;
• advertising identifiers for tracking.

Beadlight does not listen to your prayers, record your voice, or access your microphone for prayer tracking.

How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

• to provide and improve Beadlight;
• to save prayer progress and app preferences;
• to show signed-in users their prayer streaks, totals, and progress;
• to maintain anonymous and aggregate global prayer counts;
• to understand which prayer features are being used;
• to reduce duplicate counting and improve analytics reliability;
• to manage accounts and account deletion;
• to manage premium guided audio access, subscriptions, and purchase restoration;
• to respond to support requests and suggestions;
• to manage the public roadmap and admin access;
• to protect against misuse, fraud, and security issues;
• to comply with legal obligations.

Lawful Basis for Processing

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we process information based on performance of a contract where needed to provide the app, accounts, subscriptions, premium access, and support.

We rely on legitimate interests for limited product analytics, global prayer totals, app reliability, product improvement, security, and fraud prevention.

We may also process information based on consent where required by law, and to comply with legal obligations where applicable. We aim to minimise the amount of information collected and avoid collecting information that directly identifies a user unless it is needed.

Anonymous, Pseudonymous, and Aggregate Data

Beadlight uses prayer analytics in aggregate. For example, we may display a total such as "1,000,000 prayers completed with Beadlight." We do not sell this data, use it for advertising tracking, or use it to track you across other apps or websites.

Anonymous prayer activity may use a randomly generated app identifier to group events from the same installation. This helps reduce duplicate counting and support global totals. Because it can group events from the same app installation, it should be understood as a privacy-preserving pseudonymous identifier rather than a direct personal identity.

Beadlight does not display individual user prayer histories publicly or associate anonymous prayer completion counts with a named individual.

Data Sharing

Beadlight does not sell personal information.

We may use trusted service providers to operate Beadlight and its website, including:

• Supabase, for authentication, database storage, cloud functions, prayer journey data, anonymous prayer records, support, and admin functionality;
• RevenueCat, for subscriptions, purchase restoration, entitlements, and premium access;
• Apple, for App Store distribution, App Store purchases, subscriptions, and Sign in with Apple;
• Resend, for sending support ticket emails and acknowledgement emails;
• GitHub Pages, for website hosting.

These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to Beadlight. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to investigate security or fraud issues.

Data Retention

Account information and account-linked prayer journey data are kept while your account exists, unless deleted earlier.

Anonymous and aggregate prayer analytics may be retained so we can maintain historical global prayer totals, reduce duplicate counting, understand overall app usage, and improve Beadlight.

Support tickets and related emails may be retained for customer support, bug investigation, and record-keeping purposes.

Purchase and subscription records may be retained where needed for entitlement management, purchase restoration, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, or legal reasons. Local app settings remain on your device unless you delete or reset the app.

Account Deletion

You can delete your Beadlight account from within the app. Deleting your account removes your Beadlight account and Beadlight-owned cloud data linked to that account, including account prayer journey records where applicable.

Account deletion does not automatically cancel Apple subscriptions. You must manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings. Some records may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud prevention, or purchase verification purposes.

Your Choices

Basic prayer completion analytics are part of how Beadlight maintains global prayer counts and improves the app. These analytics are designed to be privacy-preserving and are not used for advertising tracking.

You can delete the app from your device to stop future app analytics from being sent. Deleting or reinstalling the app may also reset locally stored app preferences and identifiers.

Children’s Privacy

Beadlight is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request, contact us and we will review or delete it where appropriate.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you. You may also have rights to object to certain processing, request a copy of your information, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Because some anonymous prayer analytics are not linked to a user account, name, or email address, we may not be able to locate or delete a specific individual’s anonymous prayer analytics events.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Processing

Our service providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect your information.

App Store Privacy Information

Apple requires developers to provide information about an app’s privacy practices in App Store Connect, including the types of data collected and whether data is linked to the user or used to track them.

Beadlight’s App Store privacy details should be kept consistent with this Privacy Policy, especially regarding account information, prayer analytics, identifiers, purchases, subscriptions, support information, and product interaction data.
